Smart glasses in Switzerland
The criticism is about cameras.
These glasses have none.
Almost everything written about smart glasses – the filming without consent, the unreliable recording light, the bans in changing rooms and schools – is about one single component. The Even G2 does not have it. It is a pair of glasses with text in your field of view, 35 grams, unremarkable from the outside. This page explains the difference. It also tells you what the G2 cannot do.
The Even G2 has no camera and no image sensor. It cannot photograph and it cannot film – not secretly, not by accident, not at all. What it has is a text display inside the lens, visible only to the person wearing it.
That removes most of what is rightly criticised about smart glasses. You do not have to give up your scepticism about camera glasses in order to wear these. The two things share a name and are different devices.

In Switzerland the decision is rarely about the technology. It is about what the people in the room will make of it. The answer is unspectacular: they see a pair of glasses. No lens, no indicator light, no hand gesture, no click. The display sits inside the lens and cannot be seen from the outside.
Nobody in the room becomes a subject. That is why the G2 can be worn in meeting rooms, consultations and client conversations – and why it does not have to be explained there.

The smartphone next to your coffee has several cameras, several microphones and a location sensor. It is pointed at people all day long: in restaurants, on trains, in the street. Nobody asks about that any more.
The Even G2 has none of it. No camera, no image sensor, no tracking through the glasses. Measured against what already runs all day, it is the more restrained device.
This is not an excuse, it is a matter of proportion. If you reject smart glasses because they might film, there is nothing here to reject. There is nothing to film.

Most people who come to us wear glasses anyway. The Even G2 is therefore available with prescription lenses: single vision from CHF 169.–, progressive from CHF 799.–, made to your current prescription and matched to the display.
Bring your complete prescription or your spectacle passport. We measure the fit, the manufacturer makes the lenses individually. Two frame shapes, three colours, magnesium and titanium, 35 grams. If you want something adjusted later, come by: readjustment costs nothing with us.

What we are not hiding from you
The limits.
- –There are four microphones. They are used for voice commands and on activation – but they exist, and we would rather tell you ourselves than have you read it somewhere else.
- –Voice features need a connection. Translation and Even AI use cloud processing. Without a network that part stands still.
- –An account is required in the Even Realities app for setup, updates and AI features. We set it up together with you at handover and explain every setting.
- –The display shows text in a single colour. No films, no photographs, no internet in your eye. That is deliberate – and the reason the glasses disappear into everyday life.
- ✓And one request of our own: if you let the glasses take notes in a meeting, say so – as you would with a notepad or an interpreter. It costs one sentence and spares every misunderstanding.

the FADP – and good manners.
The revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) has been in force since 1 September 2023. It requires transparency, data minimisation and security – from companies, not from glasses. House rules against recording devices in changing rooms, schools or hospitals are directed at cameras, because that is where images of people are created. With the G2 none are.
For professions bound by confidentiality – practice, law firm, fiduciary – the advice of your own legal counsel applies in each individual case. We are not lawyers, but we know exactly where the limits of the device lie, and we will show them to you.

Does the Even G2 have a camera?
No. There is no camera and no image sensor. The G2 cannot photograph and cannot film – neither deliberately nor by accident. From the outside there is no lens and no indicator light to see.
Will the person opposite notice that I am reading something?
No. The display sits inside the lens and is visible only to the person wearing the glasses. Whoever sits across from you sees a pair of glasses – not your notes and not your messages.
Are smart glasses actually allowed in Switzerland?
There is no ban on smart glasses in Switzerland. What applies is data protection law and the house rules of the place you are in. Bans in changing rooms, schools or hospitals are directed at cameras, because that is where images of people are created. The Even G2 has none. For your own profession in an individual case, the advice of your legal counsel applies.
Does it record conversations?
No audio recordings are stored. The microphones are used for voice commands and on activation. With Conversate, audio is turned into text in real time and then deleted; the transcript and summary stay in the Even Realities app, where you can also delete them.
How is this different from camera glasses?
