Both have a display — what really matters
With the Meta Ray-Ban Display, Meta too has brought a display into the lens. This removes the old distinction between 'display glasses vs. camera glasses'. Four things now matter: does the device have a camera? Is the display monochrome (discreet text) or full colour (media)? How is it controlled? And: can you get it in Switzerland today? The Even G2 relies on a lightweight, unobtrusive text HUD without a camera; the Meta Ray-Ban Display on a colour media display with a camera.
Camera & privacy
The biggest difference remains the camera. The Even G2 deliberately has none — for the wearer and those around them it is immediately clear that nothing is being filmed. That matters in the office, in practices and in sensitive environments and fits the Swiss data-protection situation (revDSG). The Meta Ray-Ban Display, on the other hand, offers a 12 MP camera with 3K video: anyone who wants to record hands-free can — but has to consider their surroundings. More on this in our article on AI Glasses & data protection.
Control: Neural Band vs. touch + ring
The operation also differs fundamentally. The Meta Ray-Ban Display is controlled via the Meta Neural Band — an sEMG wristband (IPX7, battery up to ~18 h) that has to be worn to operate it. The Even G2 responds to touch and can optionally be complemented with the Even R1 Ring (CHF 269). Then there is weight: 35 g for the Even G2 versus 69 g for the Meta — noticeable over a whole day.
Availability in Switzerland
A practical point that is often overlooked: the Even G2 is available in Switzerland — CHF 699 incl. case, incl. 8.1% VAT, no customs charges, with prescription lenses and a fitting at the Villa Zeltweg showroom in Zurich. The Meta Ray-Ban Display was unveiled at Meta Connect on 17.09.2025 and launched on 30.09.2025 in the USA at USD 799 (incl. Neural Band); outside the USA it was available only to a limited extent at the time of writing — check the current availability in Switzerland before you make plans.
Who each one is for
- Choose the Even G2 if you want a lightweight, unobtrusive everyday pair with discreet text overlays — explicitly with no camera on your face — and want to buy in Switzerland today.
- Choose the Meta Ray-Ban Display if a colour media display, a 12 MP camera and first-person recording are your priority and you have access to the US market.
- Undecided? First work out whether you need a camera and whether the device is available to you. If you are looking more for a pure camera/audio pair, our comparison Even G2 vs Ray-Ban Meta will help. The overview of the best AI glasses 2026 shows more options.
Independent measured scores for both devices will follow with the AI Eyewear Score as soon as we have tested them ourselves according to our protocol. You can try the Even G2 at any time in our showroom in Zurich.
Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference?
Both now project a display. The Even G2 uses a discreet, monochrome green text display with no camera and no speaker; the Meta Ray-Ban Display a full-colour display with a 12 MP camera, controlled via the Meta Neural Band. Further differences: weight (35 g vs. 69 g) and availability.
Which one has a camera?
Only the Meta Ray-Ban Display (12 MP ultra-wide, 3K video at 30 fps, 3× digital zoom). The Even G2 deliberately does without a camera and speaker — for privacy and use in the office and in practices.
Which one is available in Switzerland?
The Even G2: CHF 699 incl. case, incl. 8.1% VAT, no customs charges, with prescription lenses and a fitting in Zurich. The Meta Ray-Ban Display launched on 30.09.2025 in the USA (USD 799); outside the USA it was available only to a limited extent at the time of writing — please check the current availability in Switzerland.
Why don't you just recommend the Even G2 that you sell?
Because that would be wrong depending on your needs. If you mainly want to record in colour and use media, the Meta Ray-Ban Display is the more suitable choice — and we say so. Our disclosure: we sell the Even G2 in Switzerland and name its limits (monochrome, no camera, no speaker).
