How long does the Even G2 get software and security updates?

A fitness tracker that stops getting app updates after two years is a familiar frustration. We have no official commitment from Even Realities on a specific update timeline to cite you — so instead we explain why it matters and how to check for yourself.

A few weeks ago, a customer in our showroom told us about her old fitness tracker: after two years the companion app stopped receiving updates, and eventually it would not even pair with a newer iPhone. Her question was the obvious one — will that happen with the Even G2 too? We owe her, and you, an honest answer rather than a reassuring line.

Short answer: as far as we know, Even Realities has not published a public commitment to a specific update or support duration — no "three years of security updates," no fixed end-of-life date. That is not a quirk of the G2 specifically; most makers of connected devices rarely commit to this in advance. What you can do instead is watch the app itself — its update history on the App Store and Google Play shows how actively a product is maintained — and ask us as your reseller directly if this matters to you.

Why update longevity actually matters for a connected glasses

Ordinary glasses lose fashion appeal over the years, never function. The Even G2 is different, because the glasses themselves hold little of the "intelligence" — that lives in the companion app on your phone, talking to the glasses over Bluetooth. Almost everything the glasses can do depends on how long that app keeps being actively developed. Three things concretely ride on this update chain.

Security

Any app that connects to a device, uses permissions like microphone or location, and sends data to the cloud can have vulnerabilities discovered after launch — that is true of practically all software, not something specific to Even. Security updates close those gaps. If they stop, the gap stays open.

New and refined features

Translation, notifications, teleprompter, QuickNote, navigation and the ambient AI prompts are software features that get refined through app updates — faster response times, fewer misreads, new languages. Without updates, the glasses stay technically frozen at the day you bought them.

iOS and Android compatibility

Apple and Google release new OS versions every year, and the App Store and Google Play eventually expect developers to keep pace. The Even G2 app currently requires at least iOS 16.0 (App Store listing, checked 30 July 2026); the official Android app is listed on Google Play, and we deliberately do not name an exact minimum Android version here because we cannot confirm one reliably. If app updates stop, that compatibility can erode over time — true for any manufacturer, not only Even.

What we know — and what we will not claim

As far as we know, Even Realities has not published a public roadmap or guarantee for a specific number of years of software or security updates. That is our honest state of knowledge, not a gap we intend to fill with an invented figure. Specifically:

  • No confirmed end-of-life date for the app or the Even G2.
  • No publicly promised minimum number of years of security updates.
  • No confirmed minimum Android version — the app is listed on Google Play, but the exact floor is not known to us.
  • The current iOS requirement is known: at least iOS 16.0 per the App Store listing, checked 30 July 2026.

What we will not do is hand you a number like "three years guaranteed" just because it sounds reassuring. That would be invented, and inventing exactly that kind of promise is what this page is meant to avoid.

How to check the update situation yourself — before and after buying

  1. Check the version history on the App Store. Every app listing shows the date and notes for recent updates. Frequent, recent entries are a good sign; months of silence are not.
  2. Check "What's new" on Google Play. Same logic for Android: the date and scope of the latest update show how actively the app is maintained.
  3. Skim reviews and comments. Users are often the first to report when an app update breaks with a new iOS or Android release — an early warning before it affects you.
  4. Ask us directly, as your reseller. We do not have an internal Even roadmap to publish in advance, but we pass on current information as we get it, and can forward your question to Even if needed.
  5. Buy the current generation. A model that is actively sold and marketed today generally gets more ongoing attention than one already superseded — that is general market logic, not an Even-specific promise.

A reference point, not a promise: how long other connected devices typically get updates

For context, not as a claim about the G2: large smartphone makers now often commit to several years of security updates, while smaller wearable and niche-electronics makers vary widely — from a few months to several years, depending on the company and the product's success. Even Realities is still a young company in a young category; that is neither a red flag nor a guarantee, just the honest context for this purchase decision.

So: buy, skip, or watch first?

Buy with a clear conscience if you accept that there is no official multi-year update commitment today, in exchange for a currently sold, actively marketed product with a local contact point in Switzerland. More on how we work as a reseller under Why AI-Eyewear.

Think twice if a documented, multi-year update guarantee is a hard requirement for you — we cannot honestly give you that today.

Watch before you buy: take a look at the update history on the App Store and Google Play yourself before deciding, and compare the Even G2 with other models in our AI glasses database. If you are still unsure whether AI glasses fit your needs at all, our buying guide covers the broader picture.

Disclosure: AI-Eyewear is the authorised Swiss reseller of Even Realities. On the duration of software and security updates, we have no official, public commitment from Even Realities to cite here; the iOS minimum requirement (iOS 16.0, checked 30 July 2026) comes from the App Store listing, and an exact minimum Android version is not known to us.

Frequently asked

How long does the Even G2 get software updates?

As far as we know, Even Realities has not published a public commitment to a specific update duration. Check the version history on the App Store and Google Play, and ask us as your reseller for current information, rather than relying on a fixed number of years.

What iOS and Android version does the app need?

For iOS, the App Store listing requires at least iOS 16.0 (checked 30 July 2026). An official Android app is listed on Google Play; we do not know an exact minimum version — the real test is whether the app installs on your device and pairs with the glasses.

What happens if Even eventually stops releasing updates?

Cloud-dependent features like live translation would likely be affected first, while phone-side features tend to be more resilient. That is a general risk for any connected device, not unique to the Even G2 — our buying guide covers this in more depth.

How can I tell if an app is still being actively maintained?

Look at the date and content of the most recent entries in the App Store version history or the "What's new" section on Google Play. Frequent, substantive updates are a good sign.

We would rather talk through update and support questions with you in person at the showroom.
