"I think I bought the wrong category by accident" — a comment under a comparison video, and it stuck with us longer than any spec sheet has. The commenter meant to buy an Even G2 and ended up with an XREAL One, or the other way round; the comment itself didn't make it clear. Both get marketed as "AI glasses." Both sit on your nose. And they solve close to opposite problems.
Short answer: the Even G2 is a pair of discreet everyday glasses with a narrow monochrome overlay, worn all day without anyone noticing. The XREAL One belongs to the birdbath category: glasses tethered to a device, showing a large, full-colour virtual screen for media and work — built for a session, not as a replacement for your everyday glasses. Both are serious products. They just answer different questions, and the right pick depends almost entirely on which question you're actually asking.
Two philosophies, neither wrong
Asking "which one is better" between these two devices leads you astray, because it assumes they solve the same problem. They don't. The Even G2 follows the philosophy of "as light as ordinary glasses, as unnoticeable as possible": a small waveguide display at the edge of your view, clear lenses, no cable, powered through your phone. The XREAL One follows the philosophy of "as much screen as possible, portable rather than fixed": birdbath optics behind darker lenses, tethered to a device that supplies the actual image. One wants to disappear. The other wants to replace a monitor. Both goals are legitimate — they're just not the same goal.
What the Even G2 actually offers
The Even G2 is camera-free display glasses paired to your phone over Bluetooth — no SIM, no eSIM, it rides on your phone's own connection. The display carries notifications, teleprompter text, QuickNote voice capture, navigation cues, live translation across up to 33 languages (per Even Support; three of those appear only in the app, not on the lenses) and ambient AI prompts. The battery is rated by the manufacturer at 192 mAh for roughly two days of typical use, with the case delivering around seven full recharges on the go. There are two frame variants with different bridge widths, plus adjustable nose pads. The display is monochrome (green) — a deliberate choice, since keeping text legible is simpler than projecting a full-colour image, and text is most of what the G2 is actually for.
What the XREAL One actually offers
The XREAL One belongs to the birdbath family of glasses: a curved mirror behind darker lenses produces a much larger virtual screen than a waveguide display, fed by cable or adapter from a phone, laptop or console. The goal is a large, private screen for a film on the train, a spreadsheet on the move, or extra desk space in a hotel room — not a substitute for everyday eyewear, but a portable display for a focused session. We're deliberately not quoting resolution, brightness or field-of-view numbers for the XREAL One here: we're a reseller for the Even G2, not the official source for a competitor's product, and we'd rather point you to XREAL's own page than guess at a figure.

Who actually fits which
The Even G2 fits you if…
You want glasses you put on in the morning and are still wearing that evening, without anyone across the table noticing anything unusual; you want notifications, translation, notes and navigation woven into daily life rather than a big screen; and discretion matters more than screen real estate.
The XREAL One fits you if…
You want a large private screen on the move for video, work or gaming; you're fine with the glasses being tethered to a device and not looking like ordinary eyewear; and the actual goal is a monitor, not a pair of everyday glasses.
So: buy which, skip which, test what first?
Go for the Even G2 if your day is made of meetings, travel and conversations where a quiet layer of information beats a big screen — that's exactly the job it was built for.
Go for the XREAL One if what you actually want is a portable screen — shows on a train, a second monitor in a hotel room, gaming on the move. The Even G2 would be the wrong category for that, however good it is at everyday life.
