You stand up from the restaurant table, and only once you are outside on the pavement do you realise the case is still on the bench inside. By the time you go back, it is gone. The first thought is about the price. The second, more honest one, usually arrives a few seconds later: can someone now listen through my glasses, read my messages, or log into my accounts? The answer is calmer than the panic makes it feel — but the first few minutes are still worth using well.
Short answer: secure your digital access first, not the glasses themselves. Unpair the Bluetooth link between your phone and the glasses, change the password on your Even Realities account — and anywhere else you reuse it — and report the loss to your reseller and, in a theft case, to the police. We are not aware of a feature that shows a lost Even G2 on a map, and Even Realities does not advertise one; do not assume it exists. The real risk is smaller than it feels: no camera, no SIM, no automatic access to your accounts.
Why the worry is understandable — and why it stays smaller than with a phone
Display glasses on your face feel more personal than a phone in your pocket, so losing them feels more alarming too. Technically, though, the Even G2's attack surface is limited. It has no camera, so there is nothing anyone could secretly record or photograph with a found pair. It has no SIM or eSIM — it only ever uses the connection of the paired phone — so nobody can make calls, burn through mobile data, or get online independently with it. What is left is really a question of pairing: as long as the glasses stay connected to your phone, or a session in your account remains open, it is worth actively ending that.
The immediate steps, in order
- Unpair the Bluetooth link right away. Remove the Even G2 in your phone's Bluetooth settings and, if listed, from the device list in the Even Realities app. That stops your phone from automatically reconnecting the moment the glasses come back into range.
- Change your account password. Change the password on your Even Realities account — and anywhere else you reuse it. That is a standard precaution whenever a paired device leaves your control, regardless of exactly how much the glasses themselves store.
- Look for session management in the app. Check the app's account settings for something like "sign out of all devices." We are not aware of an officially documented remote-lock or remote-wipe feature for the G2 — if you find one, use it; if not, ask Even Support directly rather than relying on a feature that may not exist.
- Report the loss or theft to AI-Eyewear. As the authorised Swiss reseller, we can advise you on replacement, warranty questions and next steps. A short call or message is enough.
- For theft: file a police report. That is standard practice for theft in Switzerland and usually a prerequisite for an insurance claim later — we cannot give legal advice on this, only the practical recommendation to do it promptly.
- Check your household insurance. Whether and to what extent loss or theft is covered depends on your policy, any add-on modules and your deductible. Only you and your insurer can settle that — we have no binding statement to offer.
What a found or stolen pair cannot do
A few points to put the worry in realistic terms. With no camera, there is nothing anyone could secretly film or photograph with the glasses — that concern simply does not apply. With no SIM or eSIM, the glasses are not an independent communication device; without a paired phone they cannot call anyone or get online. Once they are no longer paired with your phone, they also stop receiving new notifications, translation requests or AI prompts — those all need the active connection to your device that you cut in the first step. As for what stays stored locally on the lenses themselves — a recently loaded teleprompter script, for instance — we do not have solid technical guidance either way; treat it cautiously as potentially visible if it contained anything sensitive.
What else is worth clarifying afterwards
If you need a replacement, buy the Even G2 again through an authorised reseller — online with us at Buy the Even G2, or directly at the Zürich showroom, where you can get properly refitted at the same time. If you wear prescription lenses, a new pair is made to your correction anyway, so an in-person fitting pays off twice over. Ask first on two things no guide can settle for you: whether your household policy covers this case, and whether the app has since added a session-management or remote-lock feature we are not aware of at the time of writing.
