A management consultant put it plainly at our counter last week: her work iPhone is locked down by corporate IT, her personal Android carries her actual life, and she wanted to know which one gets to wear the glasses. It is a fairer question than the spec sheet answers, so let us answer it properly.
Short answer: you pair the Even G2 to one phone at a time. The Even Realities app, your settings and the paired connection live on that phone. Moving the glasses to your other phone is a re-pair, not an instant handoff — closer to switching a Bluetooth headset to a new laptop than to the way AirPods glide between your own Apple devices. We have seen no documented "two phones at once" profile from Even, so we won't promise one; plan around a single primary phone.
Walk it through: a Tuesday with two phones
Picture the real sequence. In the morning the glasses are paired to the work phone: Teams invites blink up, you read the agenda off the teleprompter, QuickNote captures the decisions. At lunch you want to switch to the personal phone — the photos in the family chat, personal navigation home. That switch is the moment where "seamless" is either true or it isn't.
With an accessory that bonds to one device, the switch looks like this: you disconnect the glasses from the work phone (or turn Bluetooth off there) and connect on the personal phone, where the Even app has to already be installed and set up. It is not a finger-snap — more a deliberate action you take once mid-morning and once at the end of the day. For most people with two phones that is not the end of the world; for anyone bouncing between the two every ten minutes, it starts to feel like friction fast.
Why a pair bonds to one phone at a time
This isn't an Even quirk; it's the nature of the connection. The Even G2 talks to the phone over Bluetooth Low Energy, and BLE accessories typically form a bond with one host — your phone and the glasses exchange keys the first time you pair and treat each other as a trusted couple afterwards. Inviting a second phone into that same live session is therefore not the default (editorial reading of how BLE accessories usually behave, not a limitation Even has confirmed).
That is exactly why we're careful with promises here. Some headphones advertise "multipoint", holding two sources at once. Whether the G2 does anything comparable isn't documented to us — and we don't invent a feature to make a sale easier. Until proven otherwise, treat a switch as a re-pair.
Our honest position. We know of no official multi-device profile that guarantees seamless handoff between two phones. If someone promises you that, ask them for the source. Assume "one primary phone, switch by re-pairing" — and let the showroom pleasantly surprise you if it does more, rather than being annoyed at home when it doesn't.
What switching actually costs you
Three things to budget for. First, the app on both phones: for a device to drive the glasses, the Even Realities app has to run there (iOS 16 or later, or the Android app on Google Play). Two phones means two installs. Second, your settings and content — teleprompter scripts, notes, preferences — which sit where you created them; don't assume a script from the work phone shows up on the personal one by itself. Third, the plain few seconds of connecting, several times a day.
For genuinely separate worlds, that separation can even be the point: confidential work stays on the work phone, personal stays personal. The boundary some people read as an inconvenience is, for others, a privacy advantage.
Workarounds that genuinely help
If you use two phones and still want the glasses, what works best in practice is to pick one primary phone — the one carrying the notifications you truly need in front of your eyes during the day. Often that is the work phone during office hours and the personal phone after. Put the scripts and notes you reach for most on that primary device. And where your IT allows it, route the messages that matter so they land on the primary phone anyway, so you switch less. None of this makes the glasses a two-phone device — it simply makes one phone the sensible home.
What to test in the showroom — with both phones
Come in with the exact two devices you would switch between. Five minutes settles more than any line on a spec sheet.
- Pair on phone A. Open the Even app, pair a demo unit, see a notification appear on the glasses. That's the baseline.
- Disconnect cleanly. Disconnect on phone A, or turn Bluetooth off there — and watch how the glasses behave.
- Connect on phone B. Pair or connect on the second phone and time how long it really takes. This is exactly the feeling you'll have daily.
- Switch back. Return to phone A. Ask yourself: is it a full re-pair, or a quick reconnect? That difference decides your day-to-day comfort.
- Rehearse your real rhythm. Switch as often as you actually would. If it feels tiresome after two rounds, you have your answer — before you pay.
So: buy, skip, or test first?
Buy without worry if you effectively have one primary phone — the glasses live there during the day and the second phone is an occasional exception. That is how most people run two devices anyway.
Pause if your day genuinely demands frequent hopping between two equal-status phones and you expect seamless handoff. We can't deliver that expectation today, and we'd rather not pretend.
